Virtual Self Logo Animation

A short looping logo animation inspired by Virtual Self, using rotating glyphs, stark contrast, and a restrained blue accent to create a minimal electronic identity sequence.

Context

This project was created for a motion graphics course focused on animating a logo with audio. I chose Virtual Self because the project’s visual language already combines electronic music, symbolism, and digital atmosphere, making it a strong fit for a concise motion identity study.

Challenge

The challenge was to create a short animation that could carry a clear visual tone without becoming overly complex. The piece needed to pair motion and audio in a way that felt cohesive, while keeping the graphic system simple enough to loop cleanly.

Approach

I built the animation around the contrast of white glyphs on black, using rotation, timing, and a subtle blue accent with the logotype reveal to create a sense of digital ritual and motion. Rather than adding many visual elements, the piece relies on a small set of symbols and controlled movement.

Implementation

The final animation was built in Adobe Animate and paired with audio arranged in Ableton Live. The sequence runs for 12 seconds and was designed as a seamless loop for the logo motion, with audio fading in and out.

Conclusion

The final piece works as a compact motion identity study. It captures the tone of the source material through contrast, repetition, and atmosphere, while keeping the animation restrained and readable. It also connects to my broader interest in how motion, rhythm, and sound can reinforce visual identity.
